Sonar is an unmissable event for anyone who is into electronic music. The festival is already in its 20th edition, and in 2013 it welcomed more than 80,000 people. Sonar is held in Barcelona at the beginning of June, and in the past it has had the participation of renowned musicians like Bjork, The Chemical Brothers, Kraftwerk, Kode9, and Madlib.

Rock in Rio

You don’t need to travel to Brazil in order to attend one of the world’s largest music festivals, as the Madrid edition is just as good. Rock in Rio is the music festival to attend if you are in Madrid during the summer. Festival de los Monegros

You could think of this festival as the Spanish equivalent of the Coachella Valley festival. Los Monegros is a barren desert located in the north east of Spain, near Zaragoza. More than 40,000 attend this unique festival every year to listen to their favourite electronic, rap, and hip hop music bands. In 2012, Los Monegros won the Best Festival Award by Vicious Magazine, and every year the line up keeps getting more spectacular. If you’re after something different, Los Monegros is your festival.

Festival de Jazz de Vitoria

Vitoria is a pleasant city located in the north of Spain and is the capital of the Basque Country. Every month of July, the city attracts some of the world’s best jazz bands and musicians, who fill the atmosphere of the city’s top venues with mellow and sexy notes. Over its 37 years of existence, the festival has welcomed acclaimed musicians, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, and Ray Brown.
